Food

Ronan began eating cereal for the first time last week. He has done really well with it so far. He has a problem with sticking his hand in his mouth right after he takes a bite which makes for a very messy and STICKY (ahh!) experience! We are working on it though.

We started him with oatmeal mixed with milk for his first time. Here are some pictures:

Excited about his oatmeal.

Trying it.

Putting his hand in his mouth! Ugh!!!!

"hmmm...this stuff is alright." What a mess!

And I think he's done. Maybe he doesn't like to be messy and sticky? One can hope, right?

He has been doing such a good job with the oatmeal that we decided to give him butternut squash tonight. He actually liked it. He ate the whole bowl! Maybe he won't be a picky eater.

Our Favorite Christmas Things

We have finished decorating for Christmas and I have been baking Christmas goodies. I thought I would share some of our favorite things about Christmas in our house:

Here is our Christmas tree. Here are some of our favorite ornaments on our tree:
Ryan and I bought this ornament on our honeymoon in Key West, Florida. It is unbreakable. Of course, that is what Ryan liked about it. It has our names painted on the other side.

This is our "Our First Christmas" ornament. One of my favorites.

Of course, this is Ryan's favorite, Darth Vader. Yes, it's true, we have Star Wars ornaments. We even have that gold guy. Not sure of his name- C3PO, R2D2???? Who knows, but they sure are a lovely addition to our tree. This year Ryan wanted to add a Yoda tree topper he found at Target. I don't think so. :)

Ronan's first Christmas ornament. We got this ornament in the hospital when he was born from Ryan's 2nd cousin, Marcia. I love it! Obviously, that is not a picture of Ronan, but I'm working on it. :)

We have THREE stockings this year. I love Ronan's stocking! Thanks Nana and Pops!

A place to hang the Christmas cards. Which I still need to address ours. Ahhh! I'm working on that also. Maybe I should stop blogging tonight and get on that. :)

A Christmas tradition. MAPLE CREAM COOKIES. mmmmmmm....so soft and chewy. I dream of these all year. They are very sweet, but so delicious. I am actually on a little sugar high because of these right now, but they are so worth it.

Peppermint bark. mmmmmm I just think Peppermint Bark is so pretty. :)

Glowing Christmas trees in the kitchen and our little fat Santa Claus. Some of my favorite decorations.

4 Months Old

Last Saturday, Ronan turned 4 months old. We went to the doctor and he got 4 shots. He did well and only cried a little bit. The doctor said that he looks good and can now begin foods. Here are Ronan's 4 month stats:

Weight: 13 pounds 14 ounces (25th percentile)

Length: 25 3/4 inches (75th percentile)

Here are a few things about Ronan at 4 months old:
  • He loves to watch Ryan play with the dogs. He just laughs and laughs. I want to get this on video soon.
  • He can roll over from belly to back and back to belly.
  • He loves to drink water from a cup. If you have a cup in your hand, he starts to wiggle and get excited. When you put it up to it to his mouth, he tries to lap it with his tongue, but most of it ends up dribbling on our shirts.
  • He is still in size 1 diapers because his little hiney is so tiny. :)
  • He can hold toys and play with them.
  • He has learned to suck his thumb.
  • His favorite song is "Jesus Loves Me." It calms him down almost every time.

Here are Ronan's 4 month pictures:

So happy!

Trying to play with his monster.

Poor guy. :(

He's Rolling Over!

This afternoon, I was getting Ronan dressed for the day and to take his 4 month pictures when he surprised me. I layed him on the ground on his back and I was unbuttoning his jeans to put them on him and he flopped over onto his belly! I didn't even realize it at first, I was thinking just to turn him back over to put his pants on. Then I realized that he just rolled over from back to belly for the first time. I was so proud and he was too!

Just flipped over and I ran to get the camera!

So proud of my little man!

While this happened, Ryan was asleep and I was so sad that I was the only one to see it. But when Daddy woke up, Ronan was proud to show his Daddy what he had learned again! :)

He got upset a few minutes after this happened when I flipped him back over so I was not able to get his 4 month pictures yet, but I did get this one. He is a little jean model. :)

I tried to take a video of him, but it happens so fast it is hard to catch. A few times this afternoon, I was videoing him, waiting for him to do it and would turn the camera off and boom he would do it! Ugh! Little Turkey! Hopefully we can get it on video soon!

New Posts

Scroll down for several new posts for today. I got behind again! Life with a baby is busy! :)

"Extra! Extra! Read All About It"

Maw Maw got Ronan a new hat. It is a newsboy cap and we love it! He is definitely a stylish baby in it. We used it for his outfit in our picture for our Christmas card this year. Here he is modeling his new cap:

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around our house! We have decorated the inside of the house and last weekend we (okay, Ryan) put lights on the outside of our house. I got some cute pictures of Ronan in front of the Christmas tree.

During our little Christmas photo session, Ronan rolled over from his belly to his back for the first time!! We are so proud and I caught it on camera.

Working on it. Almost there!

All the way over! "Now I can see the tree!"

Last Saturday, Ryan had a paper to write so Ronan and I made a quick trip to Waco to see Santa at Hillcrest. Here is Ronan with his cousin Hunter meeting Santa Claus for the first time.

After meeting Santa, Ronan and Hunter went upstairs to Grandpa's office.

"I'm in charge!"

Snow?

Last Friday, Ronan got to see his first snow! The news had predicted snow all week for Friday afternoon so Ronan and I sat by the window on Friday waiting for it to come so we could get some pictures. It finally came around 1:30. It was a very light snow and only lasted about 10 minutes, but we were able to go outside and get a few pictures. Immediately following the snow, the sun came out! Only in Texas!

"Burrrr, it's cold! Do you like my new hat?"

Just Like Grandpa

Hunter and Ronan like to wear ties just like their Grandpa.

Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving was a special one because it was Ronan's first Thanksgiving! We ate lots of delicious food and enjoyed being with both of our families. Here are some pictures of Ronan's first Thanksgiving:

After all the Thanksgiving festivities, Ronan slept really well. :)

Maw Maw rocked him to sleep.

Aunt Jessica came home and got to see Ronan.

Here are some baby pictures of Ryan and I to compare to Ronan. What do you think? I think he looks a lot like his Daddy. :)

A Birthday Blowout

Happy Birthday to my WONDERFUL hubby!

This past Wednesday was Ryan's 24th birthday. This birthday was a little different because this was his first birthday as a father. To celebrate his birthday, we relaxed at the house all day then we went out to dinner at Pluckers (his favorite!)

When we got there, Ronan was hungry so Ryan offered to feed him. After a few minutes of feeding him, Ryan heard Ronan go to the bathroom (a little, or so we thought, number 2 in his diaper.)

After he finished eating, Ryan decided he would go change him in the car before the food came. So he stands up and there is some (okay a lot) of poo all on his jean leg. I was like "Ryan, sit down! He pooped on you!" So after a couple minutes of the first time parents "oh no, what should we do?" reaction, he had to discreetly clean himself up at the table (this is a pretty crowded restaurant) and then he had to sneak out to change the diaper holding Ronan down low by his pants to hide the stain. Needless to say, Ryan was a little embarassed, but I don't think anyone noticed. Besides the birthday blowout, we had a great time! I guess once you have kids, there is never a dull moment. :)

Here are some pictures of Ryan and Ronan on his birthday. Ronan now likes to ride on your knee like a horsey. He is getting so big!

Ryan would not be happy if he knew I posted this picture on our blog, but I think it's cute.

Happy Birthday Daddy! We hope your birthday was LOADS of fun!! :)

TV Junkie

Yesterday morning, I put Ronan in his Exersaucer to play. He was not interested in playing with that though. He wanted to watch TV instead. He's our little TV junkie. :)

Three Months Old

Our little Ronan is now three months old! I'm a week late on this post, but better late than never, right?

Here are his stats for three months:
**We did not have a doctor's appointment this month so we were not able to get our three month stats. We did them at home so they are only approximations.

Weight: 12.5 pounds
Length: 25 inches

Things about Ronan at 3 Months Old:
  • Ronan began giggling. We love it!
  • Ronan has discovered his hands and loves to suck on them.
  • He can hold his own pacifier and attempts to hold his bottle.
  • He can hold and play with small toys.
  • In the mornings, he is very talkative. He has discovered his voice and loves to shriek
  • He loves to play in his exersaucer. He can push the buttons on it and play the music.
  • He can sit facing forward in his stroller and loves to look out at everything on our walks.
  • Ronan loves TV! He got that from his Daddy. We will have to break that habit. :)
  • He is looking more and more like his Daddy every day. People have stopped us in the grocery store and told us how much they look alike. But is it just the bald head I wonder?? I am going to post some baby pictures of Ryan and I in the next week so y'all can compare.

Here are Ronan's 3 Month Pictures:

He did not cry this time. Except this time, I couldn't keep him from toppling over. Enjoy!

This is the only good one I got. He is happy! :)

"What, mom? I think I am just going to lay down right here."

"Can I just play with my monster instead?"

Video

Tonight after dinner, Ryan was playing with Ronan in his bouncer seat. Every time Ryan would make a sound, Ronan would try to mimic the sound back. Leo also says hi in the video. Enjoy!

New Toy

This morning we pulled out Ronan's exersaucer for the first time. He was a little too small for it still so we propped him up with some blankets. At first, he just stared at all of the toys on it and then he began touching the things and batting at them. Here are some pictures:

"OOOOO, what is all this?"

There's a smile. I think he likes it. :)

His little feet barely touch the bottom.

A Little Behind

So I have been a little behind in my blogging. Scroll down to see several posts for today about what we have been up to.

Laundry Time

When Ryan folds laundry with Ronan this is usually what it ends with. Ronan was not amused this time.

"Mom, help me!"
